Cotton

The WACOT Cotton division started its operations in 1998 as a leading ginner and ranks amongst Nigeria’s top 2 exporters of cotton lint since 2001.
WACOT Cotton Division operates in all the major cotton-growing regions of the North East & South West parts of Nigeria, namely: Katsina, Kano, Zamfara, Gombe, Plateau, and Adamawa.

WACOT is a member of the Association Française Cotonnière (AFCOT) and International Cotton Association (ICA) and has been recognized by the Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) and Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON). Over the years, we have established the MEGA brand for premium cotton lint, which is poly & seed free. We monitor all the supply chains from farm to factory to ensure we get only the best quality seed cotton stored and ginned, under optimum conditions and made ready for export. We monitor quality by hand-picking poly, seed, and trash levels for both input & output. We routinely get samples checked with certified laboratories and with buyers to maintain consistent lint quality.

We operate two state-of-the-art cotton ginneries, one in Funtua, Katsina State and the other in Gombe, with a 60,000 MT capacity. Our Funtua ginnery is the largest, with a 40,000 MT seed cotton annual ginning capacity. Our strong sourcing and operational network consists of 2 ginneries, three mother warehouses, two-port warehouses for export operations, and associated staff. Our supplier network consists of more than 35 Local Buying Agents (LBAs) covering all the cotton-growing regions in Nigeria.

Sustainability

The WACOT brand consistently makes strides toward increasing cotton production in Nigeria. To this end, we have been running outgrower programmes, supporting farmers with seed production and agri-inputs and with a buyback guarantee on their produce. Overall, we work with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and the National Cotton Association of Nigeria (NACOTAN), the Cotton Producers and Merchant Association (COPMA), and the Cotton Ginners Association of Nigeria in developing the cotton industry in Nigeria.

WACOT’s collaborative partnerships span through local and international clients like Devcot SA, CDI, Mambo, and Sapphire group, who trust the brand’s quality and, over the years, have maintained a good business relationship with WACOT LTD
